Sierra County is also home to Spaceport America, the nation's first purpose-built commercial spaceport!

Truth or Consequences is a growing community. Our first Wal-Mart recently opened it's doors adding a fresh new shopping experiance to our area. Educational opportunities in T or C include the T or C Municipal School System, serving the public school needs of Sierra County from Pre-K through 12th grade. Apple Tree Child Development Center and Manzano Christian School is a private non-profit Christian educational facility currently serving Pre-K through 8th grade and adding grades each year. The Gardner Learning Center serves as a regional learning center for adult education and is a branch of Western New Mexico University. There is a variety of public and private health care options available for Sierra County residents. Truth or Consequences is conveniently situated between the major metro areas of Albuquerque and El Paso.

Nearby recreational opportunities include the Gila National Forest with trophy elk and deer hunting, as well as hiking, camping and fishing. The Gila also contains the Aldo Leopold Wilderness which is the first designated wilderness area in the United States.
